Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Kuula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kuula is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kevin Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sergei Kuula!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuula misses with a double jab

and Diaz counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Diaz.
Kuula wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Diaz tries to break free but Kuula pushes him back against the cage.

Diaz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kuula has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Kuula scores with a hook to the body. Diaz takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Sergei Kuula seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kuula connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kuula wants to sweep but no luck.
Kuula keeping full guard, as Diaz tries to pass.
Kuula avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Kuula might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Diaz haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sergei Kuula was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Diaz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kuula was covering up waiting for the punch and Diaz finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Diaz swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kuula is now in Diaz's guard. A big mistake from Diaz there, giving up the dominant position!
Kuula slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Diaz is looking for a sweep.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Diaz wants to control but Kuula postures up.
Kuula postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Kuula swings around for an armbar but Diaz sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kuula's guard.

Diaz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Diaz stands and throws Kuula's legs to the side, diving into side control.

A nice elbow there by Diaz.

Diaz has control of Kuula's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kuula regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kuula fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kuula goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Kevin Diaz has been cut.
Diaz looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Kuula shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Diaz napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Diaz manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Kuula landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Kuula is trying to control. Diaz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Kuula is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kuula is looking to advance position but Diaz has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Kevin Diaz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Diaz has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Kuula tries to lock up and control but Diaz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kuula is in a horrible position here. Diaz smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kuula tries to reverse the position but Diaz maintains control.

Diaz is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kuula to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kuula shrugs it off.

Diaz fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Diaz misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Diaz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kuula is looking to escape.
Diaz connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Diaz looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Kuula is trying to pull guard but Diaz has him pressed against the cage.

Diaz postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kuula looks a forlorn figure.

Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Diaz will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Diaz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kuula swivels and escapes.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kuula sprawls well. Kuula wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kevin Diaz showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Diaz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
