Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Spenser Kalkbrenner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gerard Musashi!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice straight punches there by Kalkbrenner. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kalkbrenner.
Kalkbrenner misses with an uppercut
and Musashi counters with a nice uppercut.
Kalkbrenner throws a body punch but Musashi moves out of range.
Kalkbrenner throws a low kick but Musashi avoids it.
Musashi throws a series of punches but Kalkbrenner moves out of range.
Musashi falls off balance throwing a combination

and Kalkbrenner counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Musashi!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Musashi is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kalkbrenner is controlling him well.
Musashi is looking for a sweep.

Kalkbrenner creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Musashi sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Musashi is pushing Kalkbrenner's head away, looking to escape. Kalkbrenner manages to hold on to the position though.
Musashi is not content to let Kalkbrenner control the position.

Kalkbrenner postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Kalkbrenner could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Musashi is pushing Kalkbrenner's head away, looking to escape. Kalkbrenner manages to hold on to the position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Musashi told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Musashi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kalkbrenner sprawls well initially but Musashi persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Kalkbrenner is looking for a sweep. Musashi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Musashi wants to control from the top but Kalkbrenner keeps moving.
Kalkbrenner wants to sweep here but Musashi controlling him for the moment.
Kalkbrenner throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Kalkbrenner bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Musashi's guard.

Musashi manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Musashi doesn't manage to clinch there - Kalkbrenner circles away.

Kalkbrenner throws a hook to the side of Musashi's head but Musashi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Kalkbrenner counters with a single leg into guard. Musashi didn't expect that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kalkbrenner won't allow Musashi to sweep him here.

Musashi wants to improve his position but instead Kalkbrenner has moved into half guard.

Kalkbrenner is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Musashi to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Musashi shrugs it off.
Kalkbrenner misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Kalkbrenner is trying to control the action in half guard but Musashi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Musashi wants to control but Kalkbrenner passes into side.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Musashi tries to bench press Kalkbrenner off him but Kalkbrenner keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kalkbrenner throws a looping overhand right but Musashi ducks down to avoid it.

Musashi tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kalkbrenner just stands there and leans against the cage.

Kalkbrenner has clasped his hands together around Musashi's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Musashi is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

Kalkbrenner is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Musashi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Spenser Kalkbrenner decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
