PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Robert Szumilas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Szumilas's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Amorphis "Skyforger". Ray Ray will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Szumilas chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ray can pounce on him.
Ray misses with a head kick.
Szumilas avoids a kick to the body.
Ray throws a head kick but Szumilas moves out of range.
Szumilas slips a jab and a cross from Ray.

Ray gets caught napping as Szumilas dives in and scores a takedown. Ray manages to retain guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Szumilas makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Szumilas lands a couple of digs.
Szumilas postures up in Ray's guard and throws a big left but Ray blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ray controls Szumilas momentarily but Szumilas frees himself.

Ray is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Szumilas connects with a couple of short punches.
Ray looking to hit a scissor sweep but Szumilas is one step ahead there.
Szumilas chips away with some ground and pound.
Ray is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ray tries to strike from the bottom.
Ray avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ray is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Szumilas is controlling him.

Szumilas stands up from Ray's guard - Szumilas perhaps looking for a knockout.
Szumilas moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ray stalks Szumilas and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Szumilas's face. Szumilas staggers backwards, shaken.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Szumilas takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Ray scores with a head kick. Szumilas tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Ray fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ray misses with a head kick.
Ray swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Szumilas.
Szumilas is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Szumilas is rocked!
Ray throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Ray pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ray fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ray misses with a few strikes there.
Ray looks winded!
Ray tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Szumilas decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Ray is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Szumilas scores with a couple of nice shots.
Ray is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nice strikes from Szumilas there.
Ray really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Szumilas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Szumilas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ray taking some punishment here, with Szumilas in his half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Szumilas connects with a nice short shot to Ray's temple.
Ray is looking to improve his position.

Szumilas seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Ray wants to get back to his feet.

Szumilas tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ray knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Szumilas thows a huge punch but Ray dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ray Ray will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Szumilas looks up at the clock. Bad move! Ray lands a right hand from hell, dropping Szumilas. Ray pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
