Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Smithers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Kazama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smithers comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - No Leaf Clover. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Akira Kazama!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kazama throws a body punch but Smithers moves out of range.
Kazama keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nice sprawl there from Kazama as Smithers shoots in.
Kazama misses with a looping right.
Smithers bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Smithers is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Kazama pulls his head out easily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kazama lands a nice hook to Smithers's body. Smithers takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kazama trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Smithers is looking for a triangle here but Kazama uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Kazama is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A close second round but Akira Kazama will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The crowd cheers as Smithers lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kazama doesn't seem phased though.

Kazama is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Smithers's shoulder. That is not cool.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Kazama counters with a left and a right that stings Smithers.

Kazama sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Smithers's guard.

Smithers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kazama swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Smithers is looking for a kimura but Kazama is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Smithers to get the leverage.
Smithers wants to pass the guard but Kazama is defending well.
Jim Smithers has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Smithers tries to free his leg and advance position but Kazama is retaining full guard.

Akira Kazama comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kazama has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
