Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin comes to the cage accompanied by Killing In The Name. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Forrest Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Woods!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin misses with an uppercut
and Woods counters with a slapping leg kick.
Griffin ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Woods waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Griffin.
Woods blocks a jab.
Griffin moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
A combination from Griffin does no damage.
Woods walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Griffin thows a body shot but no joy.
Griffin lands with a cross.
Griffin misses with a double jab.
No joy there for Griffin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Griffin avoids the body shot from Woods.
Woods throws a left and a right that both miss
and Griffin counters with an inside leg kick.
Griffin misses with a series of wild punches.
Woods walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Woods shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Woods throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Griffin's waist but Griffin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Woods off to one side.
Griffin just misses with a punch to the body.
Griffin works Woods's body with a nice hook.
Griffin throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Griffin tries to bum rush Woods with a series of wild strikes but Woods uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Forrest Griffin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Woods scores with a jab to the jaw.
Griffin throws a leg kick that misses.
Griffin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Woods was well out of range. Poor timing from Griffin.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Griffin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Woods trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Griffin pulls Woods in close to his closed guard and prevents Woods from doing any damage or advancing position.

Griffin is looking for a sweep. Woods is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Griffin bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Woods looking to hit a scissor sweep but Griffin is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Woods keeping moving, preventing Griffin from controlling successfully.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's time! Griffin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Good leg kick by Woods there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Woods shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Griffin but Griffin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Griffin feints a jab promting Woods to slip. Griffin then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Woods slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like James Woods has been cut.
Griffin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Woods drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Griffin throws a low kick but it's checked well by Woods.
Griffin misses with a hook. Woods ducked under it nicely.

Woods shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Griffin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Woods has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Woods sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Griffin's guard.
Woods is stalling here. Griffin is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Woods seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Griffin has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Woods gets back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Griffin looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Woods wants to improve his position but Griffin is controlling well.
Woods moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Woods is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Griffin can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Woods pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Griffin wants to control but Woods is having none of it.
Woods postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Griffin badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Woods around the waist but Woods pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Woods is the winner by TKO! Woods jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Woods!
