Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Melekh David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaia Ky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Ky's choice of entrance music: TIAMAT - Gaia. Gaia Ky has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Melekh David!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 18 - 3, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gaia Ky!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Ky. David does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ky throws a shot from downtown. David moves away and avoids it.
David takes a swing at Ky's ribcage but misses.

David gets a takedown into half guard.
David is thwarting Ky's attempts to control the position.
Ky avoiding damage under a succession of punches from David.
Ky is trying to stand up here but David is controlling him well.
Ky wants to control but David is keeping busy and won't allow it.
David not landing any meaningful shots this time.
David throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
David throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
David trying to control the action but Ky is working from the bottom.
Ky is in trouble now - David has advanced to mount!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ky keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
David trying to control but he's not successful this time.
David with good strikes from the mount here!
David prevents Ky from getting the reversal.

David has control of Ky's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ky regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ky is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
David with the ground and pound from mount.

Ky tries to get back to half guard but can't.
David breaks from Ky's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Ky is wriggling around trying to escape.
David lands a couple of good shots and Ky has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ky wants to escape the position.
David misses with an elbow to the head.

David patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

David is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Ky has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Ky holding both David 's hands and preventing any damage.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ky grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

David misses with punches from the back.
Ky is trying to remain composed but David is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
Ky turns into David and is now in his guard.
David trying to control the position here.
David not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ky wants to pass the guard but David is keeping the position.
David looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ky is one step ahead there.
David keeping moving, preventing Ky from controlling successfully.

David pulls Ky in close to prevent any damage.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Gaia Ky wasn't active enough on the ground.
David slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Ky jabbing away but nothing is landing.
David throws a looping overhand right but Ky ducks down to avoid it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ky waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract David.
David looks to land a left hand but Ky moved out of range nicely.
Ky swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
David throws a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Melekh David dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


David displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ky throws out the jab.
Ky tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ky misses with a series of wild punches.

Ky drives through and clinches with David against the cage.

Ky escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ky misses with a wild body shot.
David ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
David lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ky's sensitive parts.

Ky thows a leg kick but David checks it

and David counters with a takedown into side control.
David wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ky keeps working.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ky takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

That's one minute gone in the round.
David working away.
David has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ky is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked David off and has taken his back!
David wants to control his opponent's hands but Ky gets his hands free.
David turns into Ky and is now in his guard.
David tries to free his leg and advance position but Ky is retaining full guard.
Ky controls David momentarily but David frees himself.
David loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Ky wants to stand and escape but David is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
David pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ky is keeping the position for now.
Melekh David overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ky scrambles and gets back to his feet.
David fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
David is looking to chop away at Ky's legs.
David takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
David avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
An inside leg kick from Ky misses.
Ky moves out of range of the body kick.
Ky thows a leg kick but David checks it

and David counters with a nice double leg into guard.
David trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ky bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in David's guard.
David looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Ky puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
David is looking to control Ky's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can David avoid being mounted?
David works his way to full guard. Good work.

David pulls Ky in to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
David controls Ky momentarily but Ky frees himself.

We're going to have a standup here because Melekh David wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Ky tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but David was well out of range. Poor timing from Ky.
Ky throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ky throws a nice inside leg kick.
Ky defends well against a solid takedown attempt from David.
Ky fakes high and swings low for a body shot but David manages to avoid it.
David moves out of range of the strikes.
David lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ky tries to clinch up but David circles away and keeps his distance.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ky.
Ky scores with a hook to the body. David takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Melekh David dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Ky pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
No joy there for David, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ky scores with a sloppy right hand. David should have avoided that one.
Ky steps to the side to avoid the strikes from David.
Ky swinging wildly here.
Ky tries to clinch but David moves out of range.
David lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Ky backs up against the cage.
David circles away from the clinch attempt.

David closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Check out the look on David's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
You can see the frustration on Ky's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ky wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

David is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Ky looks calm but he's in trouble here. David gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Ky is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! David lets go of the hold and Ky can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Melekh David!
