Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaime Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan comes to the cage accompanied by I'd Love to Knock the Hell out of You by Hank Williams, Jr. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jaime Carvalho!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan misses with a takedown attempt - Carvalho sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Carvalho drives through and clinches with Ryan against the cage.

Carvalho jumps guard.
Carvalho is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ryan is controlling him.
Ryan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ryan throwing strikes from guard but Carvalho blocks nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carvalho has momentary wrist control but Ryan slips an elbow through the middle.
Ryan postures up in Carvalho's guard and throws a big left but Carvalho blocks it.

Ryan throws an elbow that misses. Carvalho uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ryan's guard. Nice move by Carvalho!

Ryan looking for a guillotine here but Carvalho defends easily.
Ryan wants to sweep but no luck.

Ryan throws his legs up looking for a submission but Carvalho uses it to pass to side control.
Ryan gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Ryan is looking to improve his position.
Ryan gets full guard.
Ryan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Carvalho stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ryan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ryan wants to get back to his feet but Carvalho is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Ryan looking for a guillotine here but Carvalho defends easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ryan lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Carvalho!
Carvalho tries to hold on but Ryan postures up.
Carvalho really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ryan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

You get the feeling that Carvalho really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Ryan scoring with strikes but Carvalho is staying in there.

Ryan moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Carvalho has worked his arm free - good work by Carvalho!
Ryan wants to control but Carvalho is keeping him busy.
Ryan lands a few punches from side control.
Carvalho is looking to reverse the position.
Ryan is trying to ground and pound but Carvalho uses the momentary lack of control by Ryan to regain half guard.
Ryan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Carvalho is trying to control but Ryan passes into side control!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carvalho can do anything to dispel that myth.
Carvalho is trying to control Ryan's posture but Ryan avoids it.
Ryan wants to control but Carvalho is keeping him busy.

Ryan has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Carvalho!
Ryan pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Carvalho tries to hold on but Ryan postures up.
Ryan looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Carvalho covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

In his post fight interview, Daniel Ryan started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
