Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wade Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joaozinho Gurgel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilson comes to the cage accompanied by Ave Maria. Joaozinho Gurgel told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson lands with a cross.
Gurgel steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Wilson.
Gurgel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wilson circles away quickly and effectively.
Wilson lands with a nice body punch.

and Gurgel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wilson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gurgel doesn't seem bothered though.

Gurgel tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Wilson is able to avoid easily.

Wilson has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gurgel.
Joaozinho Gurgel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Wilson looks to land a right hand but Gurgel moved out of range.
Gurgel throws the kick towards the body but Wilson avoids it.
Wilson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Gurgel.
Wilson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gurgel sprawls well. Gurgel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wilson gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wade Wilson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Gurgel counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Wilson is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Wilson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gurgel throws out a leg kick but Wilson moves out of range and Gurgel only half commits.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gurgel throws a lazy right hand but Wilson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Gurgel throws a series of punches but Wilson avoids them all with ease.

Gurgel displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Wilson throws out the jab.
Wilson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Gurgel is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Wilson is controlling him well.

Wilson is looking to take a break and control but Gurgel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Wilson breaks from Gurgel's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Wilson is landing with some decent strikes but Gurgel is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
That has opened up Joaozinho Gurgel's cut even more.
Gurgel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wilson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Joaozinho Gurgel's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Joaozinho Gurgel's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

A very excited looking Wade Wilson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
