PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fransisco Alveraz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chrisoff Lebene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alveraz comes into the arena with Silly Shoes blaring out of the sound system. Lebene is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Go to Sleep-Eminem. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fransisco Alveraz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chrisoff Lebene!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alveraz fakes the leg kick and cracks Lebene in the body.
Alveraz shoots in looking for a takedown. Lebene tries to sprawl out of it but Alveraz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lebene manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lebene takes one to the side of the head.
Alveraz throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Alveraz manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lebene on his heels. He'll look to pass Lebene's guard now, I'm sure.
Alveraz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Alveraz tries to free his leg and advance position but Lebene is retaining full guard.
Alveraz is looking to pass into half guard but Lebene pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Lebene is in guard.

Lebene feints and as Alveraz raises his hands in defense, Lebene changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alveraz has momentary wrist control but Lebene slips an elbow through the middle.

Lebene has gone for a leg lock! Alveraz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lebene's guard.

Alveraz throws a strike but Lebene rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

A close round but Chrisoff Lebene will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Lebene pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Alveraz back to the cage. Lebene follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Lebene postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Alveraz is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lebene, into his guard.

Fransisco Alveraz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Alveraz counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lebene's knee momentarily.
Alveraz scores with a punch to the head.
Lebene drops his hands momentarily and Alveraz takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Lebene slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Lebene might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Alveraz haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Alveraz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Chrisoff Lebene showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Lebene throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Alveraz works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Lebene looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Alveraz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Lebene wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alveraz keeps working.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Lebene lands a nice short elbow.

Lebene is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Alveraz is just riding it out for now. Lebene eventually gives up the hold.

I would just about give that final round to Chrisoff Lebene.
I've got Lebene winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Chrisoff Lebene misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
