PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Fry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryuken Yanagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fry attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Fry pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Yanagi moves out of range of the body kick from Fry.
Yanagi shoots in for a takedown but Fry shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Yanagi dives in and grabs Fry's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fry pushes down on Yanagi's head and hops out.
Fry misses with a body kick.

Yanagi fails with a takedown attempt.
Jack Fry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryuken Yanagi.
Fry fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Yanagi checks it well.
Yanagi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fry but Fry pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fry knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yanagi on the ground.
Yanagi scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Fry to see if he's OK.
