The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moorehead fails in his attempt to clinch.
Moorehead throws out a powerful jab.
Moorehead keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Smith manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Moorehead on his heels. He'll look to pass Moorehead's guard now, I'm sure.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Heath Smith wasn't active enough on the ground.

Heath Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Moorehead fails with a takedown attempt.
Smith takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Moorehead sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Craven Moorehead has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Heath Smith.
Smith tries to clinch but Moorehead moves out of range.

Moorehead buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Smith shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Moorehead's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith trying to control but Moorehead is working from the bottom.
Smith might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Moorehead haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Heath Smith has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Moorehead tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.
Moorehead is looking to clinch.

A jab from Moorehead does it's job there.
Moorehead pivots, looking for a leg kick but Smith is out of range and Moorehead settles back down.

Smith looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Moorehead is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Moorehead controls Smith momentarily but Smith frees himself.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Smith misses with a series of wild punches.
Moorehead throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Moorehead fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Smith looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Moorehead pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Smith tries for a takedown but Moorehead circles away easily
and Moorehead counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but Moorehead circles away.
Smith throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Moorehead counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Moorehead scores with a crisp jab that stopped Smith in his tracks.
Smith looks to clinch

and Moorehead counters by clinching up.
Smith is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Moorehead pulls him back up using the underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Moorehead's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Moorehead scores with a one two! Smith had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Smith is rocked!
Smith gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Moorehead gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Smith is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
