PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dixie Normous (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon McGruder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGruder is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Jesus is a Friend of Mine. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGruder keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Normous throws a leg kick but McGruder sees it coming and checks it nicely.
McGruder connects with a crisp jab.
McGruder scores with a jab to the body.
McGruder lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Normous shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and McGruder counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
McGruder bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McGruder defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Normous.

Normous looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for McGruder!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Normous thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Normous working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

McGruder dodges the ground and pound from Normous.

Normous goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, McGruder rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Normous's guard! Nice work there by McGruder!
Normous is trying to keep McGruder in close.

Normous is looking for a triangle but McGruder pushes his legs off easily.
Normous controls McGruder momentarily but McGruder frees himself.
Normous looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but McGruder puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

McGruder is trying to control the action in half guard but Normous is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
McGruder might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Normous haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

McGruder has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Normous to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! McGruder is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Normous pulls down on the head and he's put McGruder to sleep! This one is all over!
