PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kim Young Il (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carver Cade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Il comes to the cage accompanied by RATM - Renegades of Funk. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Carver Cade was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Carver Cade!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cade misses with a low kick.
Il uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Cade has time to react.
Il scores with a push kick.
Cade looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Cade tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A telegraphed right hand from Cade misses the target.
Il uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Cade has time to react.
Cade stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Il.
Cade closes this distance looking for a takedown but Il circles away.

Cade changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Il looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Il is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Cade is looking to take a break and control but Il is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cade gets to mount! Il was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Il is in a horrible position here. Cade smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Il is looking to get to half guard.
Cade postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Il looks a forlorn figure.
Il regains half guard.
Cade stalling away here and it's allowed Il to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Cade wants to pass the guard but Il is keeping the position.
Il utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Cade wants to control from the top but Il keeps moving.
Il is pulling down on Cade's head to control his posture.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cade in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Il is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cade stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Il swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Il wants to sweep but no luck.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cade fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Il.
Cade misses with a two punch combination.
Il scores with a punch to the head.
Cade avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cade staying out of range there.
Cade dives in and grabs Il's left leg, looking for a takedown. Il pushes down on Cade's head and hops out.

Il clinches up against the cage.
Cade blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Il blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Il misses with a body punch.

Il lands a left hand that snaps the head of Cade backwards.

Cade is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cade drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Carver Cade seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Il throws a leg kick which misses Cade's front leg but catches the back leg as Cade tries to avoid it.
Cade fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Cade shoots in and drives through. Il sprawls well.

Il ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Il gets caught flat footed, as Cade shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Il has control of Cade's left arm, preventing Cade from doing any damage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cade sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Il turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Cade takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Il fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Cade.
Cade looks to land a combination but Il avoids it well.
Cade works Il's body with a nice hook.

Cade takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Il thows a body shot but no joy.
Cade throws a leg kick
and Il counters with a thumping low kick.
Cade walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Il checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Cade tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Il dives in and grabs Cade's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cade pushes down on Il's head and hops out.

Il throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Il scores with a head kick. Cade tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Cade does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Cade goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Cade's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

and Il counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Cade takes a swing at Il's ribcage but misses.
Il moves out of range of the leg kick from Cade.
Il cracks Cade with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Cade avoids the head kick by Il.
Cade throws a leg kick but Il moved away.

Cade fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Il avoids it really well and circles away.

Cade misses with a jab, cross combination.
Both fighters circling a little - Il finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Il lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Cade will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Il lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Kim Young Il is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Cade throws a solid leg kick but Il takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Cade.
Cade misses with an uppercut. Il saw that one coming.
Cade chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Il can pounce on him.
Il takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Cade throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Il defending well as Cade loads up on a big left hand.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Il, right into the meat.
Carver Cade has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kim Young Il showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Il, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
