PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Tank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Tank will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmy Joe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jake Tank!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tank gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Joe escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tank misses with a takedown attempt - Joe sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Tank jumps guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Joe advances position into side control!
Tank is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Tank is letting Joe control him for a moment.
Tank is not content to let Joe control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tank stops Joe from passing to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Joe is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tank is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Joe tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Joe wants to control but Tank is keeping him busy.
Tank tries to bench press Joe off him but Joe keeps the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee asks Joe politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Joe prefers to stall for the moment though.
Joe trying to control the action but Tank is working from the bottom.

Joe tries for a kimura but Tank is defending well.
Tank can't do much from the bottom here.
Tank really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Joe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tank being controlled for a moment.
Tank tries to bench press Joe off him but Joe keeps the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Joe controls the position.
Tank is trying to buck Joe off.
Tank struggling a bit here.
Joe is looking to take a break and control but Tank is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Joe wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tank, who protects the arm well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tank is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Tank is trying to get back to his feet.

Joe tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Joe has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Joe trying to control the position but Tank is working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy Joe dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Tank with a lazy takedown attempt

and Joe counters by moving into the clinch.
Joe misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Tank.

Joe jumps into guard, dragging Tank to the mat.

Joe looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Tank wants to pass the guard but Joe is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tank looking to improve position, pressing down on Joe's thigh with his hand. Joe seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Tank paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Tank's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Joe picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jimmy Joe!
