PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stew Sauced (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sauced comes to the cage accompanied by Irish Jig. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Larry Smith!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sauced checks the leg kick nicely there.
Smith throws a nice inside leg kick.
Smith stuffs the takedown.
Smith throws out a leg kick but Sauced moves out of range and Smith only half commits.
Smith thumps Sauced with a low kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sauced.
Sauced throws a nice looking combination but Smith bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Sauced shoots for a takedown but Smith saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stew Sauced. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sauced chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Smith can pounce on him.
Smith turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Smith will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Larry Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sauced changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Sauced manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Smith connects with a solid leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sauced.
Sauced walks into a straight right hand from Smith.

Sauced misses with a double jab.
Smith is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Smith tries to bum rush Sauced with a series of wild strikes but Sauced uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sauced fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Smith avoids it really well and circles away.
Smith fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sauced.
Smith cracks Sauced with a good jab.
Smith connects with a looping right hand.
Smith lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Nice defenses there by Sauced.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sauced, pushing him back against the cage.
Smith lands a hook to the side of the head.
Sauced jumps guard but Smith turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Sauced tries for a takedown. No joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sauced blocking some punches.

Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith connects with an inside leg kick.
Smith connects with a looping right hand.
Smith fakes the leg kick and cracks Sauced in the body.
Sauced checks a low kick from Smith.
A jab from Smith finds it's way through Sauced's defenses.
Smith scores with a three punch combo!

Sauced is rocked!
Sauced tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Oh Sauced is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smith pounces like a tiger and cracks Sauced with a vicious hook! Sauced is down but not out! Smith follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
