The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Awsome feints a jab promting Mcdonald to slip. Awsome then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mcdonald slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

It looks like Danny Mcdonald has been cut.
Mcdonald shoots in for a double leg but Awsome sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Danny Mcdonald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mcdonald shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mcdonald was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Mcdonald prevents Awsome from escaping the position.
Mcdonald wants to take a breather but Awsome manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Mcdonald.

Mcdonald drops back, looking for a kneebar! Awsome looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Awsome looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Awsome!

Mcdonald is looking for a sweep.

Mcdonald manages to get back to half guard.
Mcdonald is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Awsome's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Awsome's back!
Awsome is trying to stand back up.

Awsome manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.
Awsome dips to his left and cracks Mcdonald with an uppercut!

Mcdonald bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mcdonald passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Awsome!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mcdonald lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Awsome is squirming around, avoiding Mcdonald's attempts to control the action.
Mcdonald looking to finish with strikes here!
Awsome is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mcdonald working for a submission but Awsome is keeping him at bay.

Awsome in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Awsome squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mcdonald cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Awsome is rocked!
Mcdonald lands a big elbow.
Oh Awsome is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Awsome is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Awsome is breathing heavily.
Mcdonald cracks Awsome with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
