Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 14 - 1, fighting out of New York, Tim Ernst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Kelsey Curtis!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curtis throws a left and a right that both miss

and Ernst decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Curtis's guard.
Ernst slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Curtis pulls Ernst in close to prevent any damage.
Ernst is looking to stand up but Curtis won't let him.

Curtis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ernst's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tim Ernst.
Ernst throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
No luck for Curtis with that takedown attempt.
Ernst has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Ernst rushes Curtis and presses him up against the cage.

Curtis is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ernst is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Curtis to the mat. Curtis regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Ernst wants to control from the top but Curtis keeps moving.
Curtis pulls Ernst in close to his closed guard and prevents Ernst from doing any damage or advancing position.

Ernst stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Curtis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tim Ernst.

Curtis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ernst looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Curtis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ernst, who protects the arm well.

Ernst takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Ernst gets back to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ernst has hold of Curtis's hands but Curtis slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Curtis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Ernst is controlling Curtis's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Ernst is looking for a sweep. Curtis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Curtis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ernst keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Ernst has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Horrible takedown by Curtis or perhaps it was just good defense by Ernst which made him look bad.

Curtis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Curtis dives in for a single leg takedown but Ernst sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Curtis dodges the punch combination from Ernst.
Ernst throws a hook to the side of Curtis's head but Curtis sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Curtis shoots and misses

Curtis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ernst's waist but Ernst gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Curtis off to one side.
No joy there for Curtis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Ernst throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ernst connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Curtis has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Curtis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ernst.

Ernst gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Curtis shoots for a double leg takedown but Ernst sprawls well. He's pushed Curtis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
