PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Adam Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mateus Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Adam Gracie!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mateus Allen!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab by Gracie.
Allen slips under a jab from Gracie.
Allen looks for a takedown but Gracie sprawls well.
Allen fails with an attempt to clinch.
A jab from Gracie finds it's way through Allen's defenses.
Allen stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Allen swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Allen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Gracie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Allen.
Allen scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
A punch lands to the side of Allen 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Allen shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gracie eats them both and turns towards Allen to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Allen tries to clinch but Gracie moves out of range.

A jab from Allen misses.
Allen stalks Gracie and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gracie's face. Gracie staggers backwards, shaken.
Allen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Allen has his takedown stuffed

and Gracie counters with a takedown into side control.
Allen takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Allen manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gracie wants to get back to full guard.
Allen is looking to take a break and control but Gracie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are battling for position here. Gracie manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Allen defends easily.

Gracie keeping moving, preventing Allen from controlling successfully.
Gracie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Allen manages to get himself to full guard.
Allen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Allen defends the submission attempt.

Gracie is keen to just control but Allen is a slippery customer.
Allen felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Allen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gracie thows a huge punch but Allen dodges it nicely.
Gracie is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but Allen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gracie to get the leverage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Allen is looking for a triangle but Gracie pushes his legs off easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Allen wants to stand up but Gracie is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Adam Gracie will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

No joy there for Allen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gracie has a takedown stuffed.
Gracie circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mateus Allen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gracie with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Allen misses with a right hand

and Gracie counters with a shoot takedown. Allen fights it but they end up in guard.
Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Allen is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gracie advances to half guard.

Allen wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.

Gracie working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Adam Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Allen is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gracie scores with a couple of nice shots.
Allen is trying to stand up here but Gracie is controlling him well.
Allen has hold of Gracie's hands but Gracie slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gracie accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

We've been hearing that Gracie has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Allen keeps moving.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Allen controls Gracie momentarily but Gracie frees himself.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Allen throws a shot from downtown. Gracie moves away and avoids it.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gracie wants to pass the guard but Allen is keeping the position.

Gracie lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Allen at a distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Allen. Gracie does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gracie is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Allen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gracie paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Allen blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Gracie tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Allen smiles and moves away.

Allen bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Allen throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Allen misses with an uppercut. Gracie saw that one coming.
A combination from Allen does no damage.
Gracie moves away from the strike by Allen.
Gracie connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Allen's hands.
Allen darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Allen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gracie swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Allen throws a nice looking combination but Gracie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Allen gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Allen might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Nice jab there from Gracie.

Allen wants to clinch.
Allen scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


Gracie is rocked!
Allen feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Gracie crashing to the mat! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Mateus Allen!

Mateus Allen seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
