Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johny Witson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn McShane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johny Witson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shawn McShane!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Witson moves to clinch but McShane breaks away
and McShane makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Good work by Witson as he checks the leg kick.
Witson jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Witson throws a leg kick but McShane checks it.
Witson tried to score with a low kick but McShane checks it.
McShane checks the leg kick nicely there.
Witson avoids the body shot from McShane.
McShane scores with a nice head shot.
McShane connects with a crisp jab.
McShane shoots in looking for a takedown but Witson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McShane's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

McShane closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Witson tries to roll over but McShane keeps him under control.

McShane is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
McShane thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Witson's head.

McShane looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Witson won't allow McShane to pass to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McShane is thwarting Witson's attempts to control the position.
McShane tries to pass the half guard into mount. Witson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
McShane content to control rather than advance.

McShane is working for a kimura but Witson is defending it quite comfortably.
McShane keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

McShane passes the guard and advances to mount!
McShane controlling the pace for now.
Witson can't escape the position.
Witson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McShane on the ground.
McShane avoids the attempt from Witson to control.
McShane prevents Witson from getting the reversal.

McShane takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

McShane is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

McShane is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Witson is not content to let McShane control the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Well, if McShane is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Witson throws the kick towards the body but McShane avoids it.
McShane shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Witson slaps away a takedown attempt from McShane, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McShane shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Witson throws a push kick but McShane slaps the foot to one side.
McShane lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
McShane avoids a punch combination nicely.
Witson looks to land a body kick but McShane moved away.

McShane keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
McShane looks to score with a jab to the body but Witson is just out of range.
McShane takes a kick to the side of the head.
McShane dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Johny Witson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McShane throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Witson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Witson fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
McShane is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Witson.
McShane fails with a takedown attempt.
Johny Witson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawn McShane.
Witson misses the shot to the body.

McShane takes a swing at Witson's ribcage but misses.

McShane gets a double leg takedown into Witson's guard.
McShane pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Witson is keeping the position for now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McShane with a flurry of punches that miss.

McShane looking to sit in guard and control but Witson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McShane is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

McShane slows the pace down in half guard.

McShane is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Witson has managed to free his arm - good work.
McShane takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Witson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McShane is working away from the top position though.

McShane is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Witson sees it coming and defends easily.
McShane thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Witson's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McShane looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Witson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

McShane is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Witson sees it coming and defends easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McShane lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shawn McShane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



McShane closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Witson quickly recovers to half guard.
McShane is figuring out what he wants to do next.

McShane has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Witson defend it? McShane steps over the head and cranks it - Witson is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for McShane!
