Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jon Melcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Alekhine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alekhine has chosen Vodka as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Melcher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alexander Alekhine!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melcher shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Alekhine defends it nicely.
Alekhine fails to land with a series of punches.
Melcher dives in and grabs Alekhine's left leg, looking for a takedown. Alekhine pushes down on Melcher's head and hops out.
Alekhine is looking to clinch but Melcher is avoiding it.
Alekhine closes the distance but Melcher moves to the side

and Melcher counters with a nice double leg into side control. Alekhine won't be happy with that.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Melcher is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Alekhine has escaped the position, nice work there.
Melcher is trying to ground and pound but Alekhine uses the momentary lack of control by Melcher to regain half guard.
Alekhine wants to get back to his feet.
Alekhine really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Melcher. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Melcher is working for a kimura but Alekhine is defending it quite comfortably.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Melcher prevents Alekhine from standing back up.
Alekhine is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Melcher scores with a couple of nice shots.

Melcher is trying to work for a kimura but Alekhine is defending well.
Melcher winds up and cracks Alekhine with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Melcher has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Melcher passes to side control.
Alekhine avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Melcher.

Melcher tries for a kimura but Alekhine is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alekhine is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Alekhine felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Melcher is working to tighten his grip on Alekhine's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Alekhine has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Melcher is really squeezing tight and eventually Alekhine passes out! Melcher breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jon Melcher!
