Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Birdman Lugz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 32 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Birdman Lugz!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lugz tries to clinch but Shields is having none of it.
Shields keeps the fight on the outside.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lugz.

Shields pushes Lugz up against the cage in a clinch.
Shields fails to pull guard.
Lugz wants to take the fight to the mat but Shields manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Shields prevents a takedown attempt there.
Jack Shields has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Birdman Lugz.

Lugz closes the distance looking to clinch

and Shields counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Lugz goes for a takedown attempt but Shields pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Shields has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lugz avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Shields changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lugz fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Birdman Lugz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lugz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shields paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Shields has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lugz has momentary wrist control but Shields slips an elbow through the middle.

Shields looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shields stalling.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Lugz looks to clinch

and Shields counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shields.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shields content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Shields throwing strikes but missing.
Shields forces his way into half guard.
Shields is trying to control the action in half guard but Lugz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Shields is controlling the pace.

Shields seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lugz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Shields looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Jack Shields has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Lugz is looking to chop away at Shields's legs.
Shields keeps the fight on the outside.
Lugz is looking to clinch.

Shields feints and as Lugz raises his hands in defense, Shields changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lugz working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Shields.
Shields not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Shields trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Shields pushes down on Lugz's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Shields works his foot free and advances to mount.

Shields is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Lugz has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lugz defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Shields.

Shields throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Lugz has his hands clasped together but Shields breaks the hold and Lugz is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Shields!
