Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrey Lapis!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapis listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Donk. Lapis catches Erschov right on the button with a cross.
Erschov moves in looking to clinch but Lapis pushes him off.
Lapis lunges at Erschov with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Erschov's hand.
Erschov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lapis circles away.
Erschov swings for the body but Lapis moves out of range.

Lapis gets a clinch.
Erschov tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Erschov is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lapis to keep the fight standing.
Erschov tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Erschov is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Lapis is defending well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexei Erschov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lapis blocks an uppercut.

Lapis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nice takedown defense from Lapis. No joy for Erschov on that attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Erschov fails with the takedown
and Lapis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Erschov tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Lapis counters by clinching up.

Lapis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Erschov has Lapis up against the cage in a clinch.
Erschov lands a knee to the head.

Lapis avoids the head kick by Erschov.

Lapis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Erschov throws a wild body kick that Lapis sees coming a mile off.
Erschov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lapis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Erschov somewhat.

Erschov tries to keep at a distance but Lapis has taken the fight into the clinch.

Lapis breaks the clinch.
Erschov looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Erschov could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Erschov throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lapis throws a series of punches but Erschov avoids them all with ease.
Erschov misses with a two punch combination.
Erschov misses with a takedown
enabling Lapis to counter with a crisp jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lapis lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Erschov backs up against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lapis moves into the clinch.
Lapis gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Erschov.

Lapis breaks the clinch.
Erschov shoots and misses

and Lapis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Erschov's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Lapis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Erschov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lapis has managed to get both his arms back between Erschov's legs - danger averted.
Erschov is breathing heavily.
Lapis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Lapis is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Lapis trying to control but Erschov is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lapis might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Erschov haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Lapis wants to pass the guard but Erschov is keeping the position.

Andrey Lapis has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Erschov shoots and misses

and Lapis counters with a takedown into side control.
Lapis controls the position.

Lapis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lapis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lapis is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Erschov is trying to escape and Lapis transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Erschov is forced to tap! Nice work there by Lapis! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Andrey Lapis!
A relieved looking Andrey Lapis thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
