Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Light (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joaquim Maria (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Light comes into the arena with Ride for This-Fabolous blaring out of the sound system. Maria is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Kronos - Bloodtower. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

27 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joaquim Maria!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Light.
Light tries to score a power double leg takedown but Maria sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Light somewhat.
Light shoots for a takedown but Maria saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Maria walks into a left hand.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Light bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Light tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Light tries for a kimura but Maria is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Light working away.
Light wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maria keeps working.
Light is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Maria is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Light in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Light thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Light working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Maria dodges the ground and pound from Light.
Maria parries the strikes from Light easily there. Light is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Maria to escape.
Light throwing shots but missing, from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Maria is not content to let Light control the position.
Maria is trying to get back to half guard.
Light tries to advance to mount but Maria instead regains half guard.
Light sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Maria defending well though.
Maria is trying to maintain the position but Light is very close to passing his half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Light is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Light passes to full mount!
Light moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Maria has worked his arm free - good work by Maria!
Light wants to take a breather but Maria manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Light.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bobby Light dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
An inside leg kick lands from Maria.
Light shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Maria sprawls well. Maria wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Light gets slowly back to his feet.
Maria takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Maria throws a head kick but Light moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Light fails with a takedown attempt.
Light throws a combination that misses
and Maria counters with a nice body kick.
Bobby Light seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Light closes the distance and clinches up with Maria, looking for a takedown. Light pushes Maria against the cage but Maria circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Light. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maria lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Light throws a right hand that misses
and Maria cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Light changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maria tries to avoid it but Light manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maria to the ground. Maria escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Light tries to score a power double leg takedown but Maria sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Light somewhat.
A head kick from Maria lands but Light takes it in his stride.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Light on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Light fails with a takedown attempt.
Light throws a lazy head kick
and Maria counters with a crisp one two that drops Light! Maria thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Light to his feet! Light is in big trouble!
Maria lands a big head kick that sends Light tumbling to the mat! Maria takes a step backwards and waves Light back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Light is rocked!
Light misses with a takedown attempt
and Maria counters with a massive hook, right on the button! He's out cold! Damn, that was naaaaaasty! Hopefully he'll be OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joaquim Maria! Joaquim Maria retains his heavyweight title!
