Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Quinton Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Baraka Simengwa!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Simengwa tries to clinch there but Jackson circles away.

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Simengwa won't be happy with that.
Jackson controlling the position from side mount.
Simengwa is not content to let Jackson control the position.
Simengwa is trying to improve his position.
Jackson takes a little break here. Simengwa wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Simengwa on the ground.

Simengwa is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Simengwa is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Quinton Jackson.
Simengwa ducks under a wild hook from Jackson.

Simengwa tries to pull guard but Jackson forces him back to his feet, against the ropes.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Simengwa controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Simengwa tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinton Jackson dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jackson scores with the left hand. Simengwa knows he should have avoided that one.

Simengwa tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Simengwa is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Simengwa is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Jackson has his hands clasped together but Simengwa extends and breaks Jackson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Simengwa.
