The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Static tries to clinch up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kaayi has Static pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Static manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Kaayi has clasped his hands together around Static's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Static pushes Kaayi away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kaayi gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Static can do anything to dispel that myth.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Hideya Kaayi will probably get the nod.

That's time! Kaayi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Kaayi fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Static fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kaayi misses with a takedown attempt - Static sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kaayi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Static tries to avoid it but Kaayi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Static to the ground. Static escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kaayi moves into range and clinches up with Static.

Static creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Kaayi with a big uppercut! Kaayi tries to clinch up but Static pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Kaayi to the mat! Kaayi covers up and Static unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
