PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ned Gein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marko Laurila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Laurila's choice of entrance music: go to sleep. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Laurila drives through with a takedown into Gein's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Laurila chips away with some ground and pound.
Gein keeping moving, preventing Laurila from controlling successfully.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Laurila working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Laurila looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Gein is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Laurila's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Laurila's back!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Laurila is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Laurila has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Gein.
Laurila manages to escape to a better position under a series of strikes. Gein is now in side control.
Laurila is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

You can see the frustration on Laurila's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Gein is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Gein is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Laurila has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Gein has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Laurila has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Laurila looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gein shoots in and drives through. Laurila sprawls well.
Laurila tries for a takedown but Gein circles away easily

and Gein counters with a single leg into guard. Laurila didn't expect that.
Gein stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Laurila swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Laurila pulls Gein in close to prevent any damage.
Let's hope that Laurila has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Gein wants to control from the top but Laurila keeps moving.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Laurila is trying to keep Gein in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Marko Laurila.
Laurila shoots in but no luck this time.
Laurila avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Laurila shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gein defends it nicely.
Ned Gein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marko Laurila.
Laurila looks to land a right hand but Gein moved out of range.

Laurila throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gein tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Laurila is in Gein's guard.

Laurila is posturing up here but Gein has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Laurila tries to roll out but it's too tight and Laurila has to tap! Slick submission there by Gein!
