And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gerd Stenner!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Dean Styles and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stenner misses with a takedown
and Schankelies counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Schankelies throws a body punch but Stenner moves out of range.

Stenner feints and as Schankelies raises his hands in defense, Stenner changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Stenner trying to control but Schankelies is working from the bottom.

Schankelies is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stenner defends well.
Stenner missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Stenner drops back looking for a leg! Schankelies is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Schankelies manages to kick Stenner off! Stenner jumps back into Schankelies 's guard.

Stenner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Schankelies sprawls well. Schankelies wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Stenner gets slowly back to his feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Schankelies . Stenner does a little dance to reset his feet.

Well Schankelies has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Klaus Schankelies retains his title. It's always disappointing when a championship fight ends as a draw but that's what happens when you leave the fight in the judges hands!
