PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Timoteo Belo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muay Thai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thai has chosen The Art of 8 Limbs as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Timoteo Belo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Muay Thai!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Belo looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Thai!
Belo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Belo tries to score with some ground and pound. Thai controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Belo decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Timoteo Belo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Belo throws a looping overhand right but Thai ducks down to avoid it.

Belo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Belo creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Thai sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Belo looks up at the clock and then as Thai takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Belo smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Thai parries the strikes from Belo easily there. Belo is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Thai to escape.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Belo has hold of one of Thai's legs. Thai is fighting the takedown attempt but Belo gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Belo wants the takedown. Thai is fighting it off but Belo persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Thai's guard against the ropes.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Belo throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Thai sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Thai dodges the punch combination from Belo.
Belo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Thai looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Timoteo Belo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Belo gets a clinch.
Thai is the more experienced fighter here and he's going to need to draw on some of that experience if he's going to pull this one out the bag.

Belo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Thai avoids a punch combination nicely.

Belo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Belo seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
