Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aina Naamat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Quan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aina Naamat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Quan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quan fails with the takedown.
Naamat uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Quan.
Naamat lands a jab to the nose.


It looks like Juan Quan has been cut.
Naamat tries to clinch up.
Naamat lands a really nice looking cross but Quan seems unphased.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Naamat, as that shot connected.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Quan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Naamat but Naamat pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Quan takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Quan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Quan working away.

Quan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Quan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Quan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Naamat has escaped the position, nice work there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Naamat is pushing Quan's head away, looking to escape. Quan manages to hold on to the position though.
Quan scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Naamat to see if he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The strikes coming from Quan are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Naamat parries the strikes from Quan easily there. Quan is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Naamat to escape.

Quan tries for a kimura but Naamat is defending well.
Quan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Quan tries to move into full mount but can't pass Naamat's legs.
Quan creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Quan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Quan has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Naamat is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Quan yanks on the arm and Naamat is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Quan.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Juan Quan!
