PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lizandro Ibarra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Goran Schwarzeneg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Lizandro Ibarra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 47 - 1, fighting out of London, Goran Schwarzeneg!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Paul Tew and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ibarra tries to clinch but Schwarzeneg is having none of it.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Good leg kick by Ibarra there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Schwarzeneg wants to clinch up but Ibarra keeps it at a distance.

Ibarra moves into the clinch.
Schwarzeneg is trying to drag Ibarra to the mat but Ibarra just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Ibarra obliges.

Ibarra manages to break the clinch.
Ibarra throws a sloppy head kick and Schwarzeneg moves out of range easily.

Schwarzeneg shoots in and bounces Ibarra off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ibarra looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Schwarzeneg is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Ibarra has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Schwarzeneg has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Ibarra breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ibarra looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ibarra shoots in for a takedown but Schwarzeneg shows good takedown defense.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Schwarzeneg looking for a takedown.
Ibarra looking to throw knees to the head but Schwarzeneg is blocking nicely.
Ibarra unloads a knee to the mid-section. Schwarzeneg lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Schwarzeneg is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Schwarzeneg wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Ibarra manages to break the clinch.
Schwarzeneg stuffs the takedown attempt from Ibarra. Ibarra gets slowly back to his feet.
Ibarra tries to clinch but Schwarzeneg moves out of range.
Ibarra lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Schwarzeneg.
Lizandro Ibarra has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Goran Schwarzeneg.
Ibarra throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schwarzeneg's waist but Schwarzeneg gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ibarra off to one side.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ibarra will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ibarra has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ibarra unloads a knee to the mid-section. Schwarzeneg lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Ibarra breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Schwarzeneg keeps the fight on the outside.
Ibarra misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Schwarzeneg takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Ibarra closes the distance and clinches.

Ibarra breaks from the clinch.
Schwarzeneg tries to close the distance and clinch but Ibarra swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ibarra clinches up against the cage.
Schwarzeneg is trying to pull guard but Ibarra turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Ibarra connects with a nasty looking knee right to Schwarzeneg's face.

Ibarra pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Schwarzeneg blocks a head kick by Ibarra.
Schwarzeneg misses with a looping right.
Whack! Ibarra lands a heavy head kick that drops Schwarzeneg. The ref tackles Ibarra to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Schwarzeneg was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Lizandro Ibarra!
Lizandro Ibarra seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
