PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randal Cooter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiki Toke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Toke's choice of entrance music: Bonecracker- Shocore. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randal Cooter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tiki Toke!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toke throws an overhand right that lands on Cooter's shoulder, as Cooter tries to avoid the shot.
Cooter avoids the head kick by Toke.
Toke shoots in for a takedown but Cooter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Toke misses with a jab, cross combination.
Toke connects with a body shot.
Cooter wants to clinch but Toke slips to the side
and Toke counters with a left and a right that stings Cooter.

Cooter moves into range and clinches up with Toke.
Cooter with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Cooter landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Toke blocks the elbow strike.

Cooter is fighting off a takedown attempt but Toke is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Cooter to the mat. Cooter regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Cooter bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Toke's guard.

Toke escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cooter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cooter with a flurry of punches that miss.
Toke lands a decent shot there.

Toke has control of Cooter's left arm, preventing Cooter from doing any damage.
Cooter is working Toke over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Toke looking for a sweep. Not yet Toke, not yet.
Cooter trying to control the position from guard on top but Toke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cooter loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Toke controls Cooter momentarily but Cooter frees himself.
Toke lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cooter!
Cooter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Toke is trying to control here but Cooter has managed to regain half guard.
Toke has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Toke prevents Cooter from getting the reversal.
Toke unloads with some shots from mount but Cooter bucks and avoids them well.

Toke is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Cooter has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Cooter!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cooter's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Toke keeping moving, preventing Cooter from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cooter trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Toke is controlling Cooter's posture.

Cooter chips away with some ground and pound.

Toke wants to hit a switch here but Cooter passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Toke there!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Toke might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cooter haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Toke is in all sorts of trouble here.

That was a close round but I would say that Randal Cooter will probably get the nod.

Toke postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cooter has Toke pulled in close to control his posture.

Toke drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cooter dives on top into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cooter lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Toke wants to stand and escape but Cooter is having none of it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cooter sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Toke's guard.
Toke wants to control but Cooter is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Toke wants to improve his position but Cooter is controlling well.
Cooter scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Cooter lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Cooter looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Randal Cooter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cooter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Toke avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cooter wants to control from the top but Toke keeps moving.
Toke looking for a sweep. Not yet Toke, not yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Randal Cooter has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
A nice leg kick lands there from Cooter.
Cooter connects with a leg kick. Toke looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Cooter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Toke manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Toke throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cooter jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Toke circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cooter dips to his left and cracks Toke with an uppercut!
Toke misses with a wild combination.
Toke will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Toke counters with a single leg into guard. Cooter didn't expect that.
Toke has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Midnight MMA. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Toke is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Toke wants to pass the guard but Cooter is defending well.

Toke is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cooter defends it well.

Cooter is not content to let Toke control the position.
Toke is thwarting Cooter's attempts to control the position.
Toke is looking to take a break and control but Cooter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cooter is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Darwinism , so we'll see if he gets out of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cooter wants to control but Toke is keeping busy.
Toke thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cooter's head.

Toke seems to be working for a kimura but Cooter defends the submission attempt.
Toke with the ground and pound but Cooter uses the opportunity to regain guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Tiki Toke comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cooter has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
