PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chad Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maurice LeDuc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). LeDuc has chosen Mad Dog's Theme as his entrance music. Maurice LeDuc will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes misses with a series of wild punches.
LeDuc looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
LeDuc shoots in for a takedown but Mendes shows good takedown defense.

Mendes scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Mendes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mendes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if LeDuc can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mendes is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt LeDuc will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Mendes is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Mendes is looking to clinch but LeDuc is avoiding it.

Mendes shoots in and bounces LeDuc off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mendes slips nicely into half guard.
Mendes is taking a breather. LeDuc says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Mendes is working for a submission of some sort.
Mendes is trying to control the action in half guard but LeDuc is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
LeDuc really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mendes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mendes is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mendes scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Mendes stands up and beckons LeDuc to join him on the feet.

LeDuc tries to keep at a distance but Mendes has taken the fight into the clinch.
Mendes is looking for a takedown.
Mendes looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
LeDuc on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Mendes is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Mendes stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Mendes tries for a takedown but LeDuc manages to get underhooks.

Mendes manages to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendes is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Mendes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. LeDuc manages to get himself to full guard.
Mendes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of LeDuc is proving hard to escape from.

Mendes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mendes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mendes passes LeDuc's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Mendes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. LeDuc doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mendes.

Mendes has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Mendes can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as LeDuc is looking to escape.
Mendes is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. LeDuc can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Mendes decides to stand up, so the ref orders LeDuc to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from LeDuc enables Mendes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. LeDuc manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Mendes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but LeDuc is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
LeDuc is breathing heavily.

LeDuc is working to avoid the ground and pound but Mendes connects with a decent elbow.
Mendes advances nicely into full mount.

Mendes throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! LeDuc has his hands clasped together but Mendes breaks the hold and LeDuc is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Mendes!
