PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rex McLain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steel Fist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think McLain might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Johnny Cash-Cocaine Blues. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rex McLain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steel Fist!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fist drives through with a takedown into McLain's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Fist tries to free his leg and advance position but McLain is retaining full guard.
McLain wants to improve his position but instead Fist has moved into half guard.
Fist seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
McLain might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Fist is looking for a kimura here.
Fist throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Fist is thwarting McLain's attempts to control the position.
Fist controlling the action here.
Fist working over McLain with some ground and pound. McLain looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Fist is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
McLain wants to control but Fist is having none of it.
McLain is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Fist tries to control but McLain wriggling away.
Fist controlling the position easily from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McLain squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fist fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
McLain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fist on the ground.
Fist lands with some strikes.
Fist controlling the pace for now.
Fist trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Fist sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Fist's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fist with shots to the head and body - McLain looks very uncomfortable down there.

Fist working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The referee warns McLain that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McLain is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steel Fist dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Fist has managed to clinch.
Fist jumps guard but McLain stands there with Fist around his waist. Fist gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Fist pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Fist slaps away a takedown attempt from McLain, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Fist takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Fist slips a jab and a cross from McLain.

Fist scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
McLain is being controlled here.
Fist working the body and head with strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McLain wants to get back to his feet but Fist is dominant here and he's now got McLain's back!
Fist slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Fist's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Fist scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. McLain is looking for a way out.

Fist is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. McLain is defending well though. Fist let's go of the attempt for now.
McLain trying to control the hands but Fist won't let him.
Fist biding his time, looking for the opening.

McLain defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Fist's arms.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Fist tightening his grip on McLain, looking for the choke.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on McLain's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McLain looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McLain is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Fist gets his way!
McLain is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Fist has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for McLain! Can he survive? No! He's out! Fist gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Steel Fist!
Rex McLain was interviewed post fight and said 'Dammit it sucks to lose. I don't really have much to say except I hope my opponent knows that until the ref stops the fight or the bell rings that I'm going to keep coming. Thank you. I hope I get the chance to fight again soon.'.
