PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tank Abbot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Power comes to the cage accompanied by Method Man, Redman - Da Rockwilder. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tank Abbot!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Power finds it's way through Abbot's defenses.
Power staying out of range there.
Power connects with a body shot that sends Abbot's belly button to the back.
Abbot waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Power.
Abbot avoids a kick to the body.
Abbot's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Power connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Abbot scrambles back to his feet.
Power lands with a right hand.
Abbot misses with a few strikes there.
Power scores with a nice right hand.
It looks like Tank Abbot has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Abbot throws a hook but Power avoids it easily.
Power listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
We've been informed that Abbot has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Power throws a push kick but Abbot slaps the foot to one side.

and Power counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Power.
Power throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Abbot looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Abbot has had enough of the clinch but Power keeps him there for the moment.

Abbot throws out a loose jab but Power uses good head movement to avoid it.
Crunch! Power slams his shin into Abbot's torso.
Power scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Power steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Abbot.

Power buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Power misses with a low kick.
Abbot tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Abbot misses with a lunging right hand
and Power counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Abbot throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Power thows a left - swing and a miss!
Abbot tries to bum rush Power with a series of wild strikes but Power uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Power throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Power dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Abbot. That did some damage!
Power attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Power chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Power turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Power staying out of range there.
Power slips under a jab from Abbot.
Abbot might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Abbot takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Power lands a leg kick that knocks Abbot off balance momentarily.
Power misses with a low kick.
Power throws a leg kick but Abbot checks it.
Power misses with a wild body shot.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The fighters circling - Abbot throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Power throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Abbot.
Power is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Abbot crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Power - the referee stops the clock and Abbot gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Power. Abbot manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Max Power dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tank Abbot's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Abbot defending well as Power loads up on a big left hand.
Power tries to score with a low kick but Abbot moves his leg out of the way.
Power tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Abbot was well out of range. Poor timing from Power.
Power's corner calls for a 1-2. Power obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
That has opened up Tank Abbot's cut even more.
Abbot moves away from the strike by Power.
A big right from Abbot misses.
Power seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Abbot throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Power holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Abbot wants to get back to striking at distance but Power won't allow it.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Abbot.
Abbot breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Power with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Abbot to score with a decent uppercut.
That kick from Power tenderised Abbot's leg. Abbot is trying to keep his angry face on.
Abbot misses with an uppercut.

Abbot takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Power cracks the inside of Abbot's front leg.
A slapping leg kick lands for Power.
Abbot throws a combination. Power tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Max Power has been cut.
Abbot is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

and Power counters with a nice leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Abbot takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Power tests Abbot's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Tank Abbot's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Abbot chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Power can pounce on him.
Power cracks Abbot with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
A good leg kick by Power.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Power - that will leave a mark!
Abbot doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Tank Abbot's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Max Power!
After winning the bout, Max Power thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
