Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Travis Herald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ollie Strauss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Travis Herald has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Travis Herald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ollie Strauss!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herald lands with a good body shot.
We've been told by Herald's head coaches at The Consortium - Rio (Message for Tryouts) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Herald misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Strauss.
Strauss takes a jab right on the kisser.
Some wild striking there from Herald.
Strauss fails to land the takedown.

Strauss feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Herald lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Strauss!
Strauss wants to control but Herald is having none of it.
Herald prevents Strauss from getting the reversal.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Herald is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Strauss can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Strauss avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Herald.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Strauss is looking for a sweep. Herald is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Herald wants to lay and pray for a moment but Strauss keeps working.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Strauss tries to get to full guard but Herald has control of the leg.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Herald lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Herald defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Strauss.

Strauss looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Herald!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Strauss wants to control but Herald is keeping him busy.

Strauss is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Herald knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Strauss thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Strauss tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Strauss wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Herald, who protects the arm well.

Strauss is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Herald is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Herald is looking for a sweep.

Strauss tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Strauss has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Herald is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Strauss's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Herald has his hands clasped together around Strauss's back. He's all about the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Herald is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Herald moves into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Travis Herald will probably get the nod.

Herald misses with a hook to the body

so Strauss counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Herald has his hands on Strauss's head, controlling the position.
Herald's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Strauss wants to get up but he can't break Herald's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Strauss prevents Herald from getting back to his feet.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Strauss trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Strauss drops back, looking for a kneebar! Herald looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Herald looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Herald!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Strauss tries to buck Herald off but Herald is having none of it.
Herald controls the position.

Strauss is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on Strauss's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sloppy strikes there by Herald.
Strauss trying to remain calm as Herald controls from the top position.
Strauss manages to work his way to half guard, despite Herald's best efforts.
Strauss is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Herald works his way into side control.
Strauss stops Herald from passing to mount.

Strauss tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Herald wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Herald creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Strauss sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Strauss wants to improve his position but Herald is controlling well.

Herald wants to take a breather but Strauss is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Herald counters with a low kick, right behind Strauss 's knee.
Strauss moves out of range of the strikes.
Herald stuns Strauss with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Strauss chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Herald can pounce on him.
Nice straight punches there by Herald. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Herald.
Strauss shoots in looking for a takedown but Herald manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Strauss's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Strauss is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Herald looks to throw the jab but Strauss is out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters circle momentarily. Herald darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Herald lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Strauss fails with a takedown attempt.
Travis Herald has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ollie Strauss.
Strauss fails with the takedown.
Herald lands with a shot to the body.
Herald fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Herald throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Strauss on the side of the head.


It looks like Ollie Strauss has been cut.
Herald lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.


Strauss is rocked!
Strauss shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Herald sprawls well. Herald wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Strauss gets slowly back to his feet.
Strauss is still on wobbly legs! Can Herald finish him?
Herald cracks Strauss with a hook to the temple - Strauss is on wobbly legs here! Herald swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Strauss falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Herald wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Travis Herald!
