The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Etherton scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Etherton not doing much here.
Etherton looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Gaarlandt tries to roll over but Etherton keeps him under control.
Gaarlandt is trying to control but can't.
Etherton is trying to control the action in half guard but Gaarlandt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Gaarlandt is controlling Etherton's trapped leg to prevent Etherton from advancing to side control.

We're going to have a standup here because Samuel Etherton wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Etherton closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gaarlandt quickly recovers to half guard.
Etherton wants to take a breather but Gaarlandt is having none of it.

Gaarlandt wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gaarlandt is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Jesus Gaarlandt has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Etherton closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gaarlandt quickly recovers to half guard.

Gaarlandt is pressing down on Etherton's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Gaarlandt manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Gaarlandt has control of Etherton's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Etherton regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Gaarlandt swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
