PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ashley Hendricks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Caol Uno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hendricks comes to the cage accompanied by Nightrain. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Caol Uno!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Sergei Dronov and Fedor Mirinova.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendricks looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hendricks tries to clinch
and Uno cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Uno with a jab.
Uno throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Hendricks shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Uno as he avoids it easily.
Hendricks tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Uno manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hendricks shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Hendricks thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Uno tries to get to full guard but Hendricks has control of the leg.
Uno has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

We've been hearing that Hendricks has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hendricks shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Uno sprawls well. Uno wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hendricks gets slowly back to his feet.

Hendricks throws out a loose jab but Uno uses good head movement to avoid it.

Hendricks shoots in but Uno avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Caol Uno is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hendricks is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hendricks tries to score a power double leg takedown but Uno sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hendricks somewhat.

Hendricks is looking to take a break and control but Uno is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hendricks is looking to advance position but Uno won't allow it.

Hendricks looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That was a close round but I would say that Ashley Hendricks will probably get the nod.

Uno tries to bum rush Hendricks with a series of wild strikes but Hendricks uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Hendricks shoots for a takedown but Uno saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Hendricks feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Uno ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hendricks moves away.
Uno stalks Hendricks and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hendricks's face. Hendricks staggers backwards, shaken.

Hendricks is rocked!
Uno lunges at Hendricks with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Hendricks's hand.
Oh Hendricks is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hendricks ducks under a wild hook from Uno.
Uno scores with a hook to the body. Hendricks takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Uno counters with a crisp right that sends Hendricks to the canvas! Uno follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

After winning the bout, Caol Uno thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
