PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zen Blood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Strikes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 1, fighting out of London, Zen Blood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 28 - 1, fighting out of London, Carlos Strikes!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Strikes rushes Blood and presses him up against the cage.

Strikes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Blood throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Strikes tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Blood is in Strikes's guard.
Strikes seems keen to control Blood's posture.
Blood working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Blood accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Strikes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Blood loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Blood has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Strikes avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Strikes is trying to keep Blood in close.
Blood missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Blood throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Strikes trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Blood postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Strikes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Blood, into his guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Blood is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Strikes is aware though and is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Blood looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Blood looking for a sweep. Not yet Blood, not yet.

Strikes gets to his feet. Blood looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Blood fails with a takedown attempt.

Strikes drives through and clinches with Blood against the cage.
Blood is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Strikes to keep the fight standing.

Strikes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Strikes forces Blood back against the cage and clinches.
Blood tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zen Blood. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Blood successfully pulls guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Blood had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Strikes defends it easily.

Blood looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Strikes has picked Blood up and slammed him! Blood can't keep hold of the triangle and Strikes manages to pass to side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Strikes working the ground and pound.
Blood is not content to let Strikes control the position.
Blood can't do much from the bottom here.

Strikes decides to stand back up. Strikes steps back and let's Blood get back to his feet.
A jab from Strikes does it's job there.


It looks like Zen Blood has been cut.

Strikes fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Blood, pushing him back against the cage.

Strikes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Strikes rushes Blood and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Strikes makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Strikes looking to stall.
Strikes prevents a takedown attempt there.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Strikes is pressed up against the cage. Blood has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Strikes down to the mat. Strikes avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Carlos Strikes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Strikes defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Blood.
Strikes throws a head kick but Blood moves out of range.
Blood fails with the takedown.

Strikes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Strikes pressing his opponent against the cage.
Strikes landing knees to the head.
Blood is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Strikes to keep the fight standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Strikes landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Strikes breaks the clinch.
Blood tries to score a power double leg takedown but Strikes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Blood somewhat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Blood gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Strikes counters with a head kick. That will keep Blood thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Blood is breathing heavily.

Strikes gets a clinch.
Strikes is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Strikes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Strikes lands a leg kick that knocks Blood off balance momentarily.
Blood fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Blood closes this distance looking for a takedown but Strikes circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Strikes dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Zen Blood's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Strikes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Blood has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Strikes is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Strikes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Blood darts in looking for a takedown but Strikes gets double underhooks and turns Blood into the cage.
Blood can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zen Blood. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Strikes crunches a lovely knee into Blood's ribcage.

Strikes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Blood shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Strikes sprawls well. Strikes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Blood gets slowly back to his feet.
Blood takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Blood takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Blood closes this distance looking for a takedown but Strikes circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Strikes thows a body kick. Blood tries to catch it but that hurt him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
That kick from Strikes tenderised Blood's leg. Blood is trying to keep his angry face on.

Strikes closes the distance and clinches.

Strikes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Strikes lands a big head kick that sends Blood tumbling to the mat! Strikes takes a step backwards and waves Blood back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Strikes has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Strikes drops Blood with a beautiful combination! Blood stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Strikes is looking for the KO!


Blood is rocked!
Blood shoots in looking for a takedown but Strikes manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Blood's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Oh Blood is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Strikes feints a jab and as Blood dips his head, Strikes unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Blood right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Blood falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Strikes smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Carlos Strikes!
Our winner, Carlos Strikes, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
