PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Oliver Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kamil Tomcik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reed comes to the cage accompanied by Jean Baptiste Lully - Marche Royale. The crowd seem to be enjoying Tomcik's choice of entrance music: We Were Fighters. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Oliver Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kamil Tomcik!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reed thuds a left hand into Tomcik's body.
Reed walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Reed swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Reed looks to score with a jab to the body but Tomcik is just out of range.
Reed misses the shot to the body.
Reed thumps Tomcik with a low kick.
Reed moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Tomcik moves out of range of the body kick from Reed.
Nice body kick from Tomcik.
Reed fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Reed has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Reed moves forwards but Tomcik connects with a nice, crisp jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tomcik throws a head kick but Reed moves out of range.
Tomcik has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Reed misses with an uppercut

and Tomcik counters with a single leg into guard. Reed didn't expect that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Reed looking for a sweep. Not yet Reed, not yet.

Reed is controlling Tomcik's posture.
Tomcik trying to control the position from guard on top but Reed is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Reed controls Tomcik momentarily but Tomcik frees himself.
Tomcik wants to pass the guard but Reed is keeping the position.
Reed has his hands on Tomcik's head, controlling the position.

Oliver Reed has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Reed moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Reed scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Tomcik doesn't seem bothered though.
A left and a right from Reed both land. Nice combination.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Reed swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Tomcik.
Reed stuffs the takedown attempt from Tomcik. Tomcik gets slowly back to his feet.
Tomcik tries to land a body kick
and Reed counters with a head kick. That will keep Tomcik thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Tomcik misses with a jab to the body
and Reed counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Tomcik throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Reed counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Tomcik blocks a head kick by Reed.
Reed throws a good cross that connects.
Reed connects with an inside leg kick.
Tomcik misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Reed fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Tomcik.
Tomcik misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Reed.
Reed fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Reed takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Tomcik is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Reed.
Tomcik tries to land a leg kick but Reed saw it coming and moves away.
Reed misses with a leg kick.
Tomcik throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Reed attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Reed showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Tomcik.

Tomcik shoots in for a takedown but Reed shows good takedown defense.
Oliver Reed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kamil Tomcik.
A decent looking cross lands there for Tomcik.
Oliver Reed is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Reed with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Reed takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Reed keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Reed is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Reed darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Tomcik tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reed tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tomcik throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Tomcik dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Reed. That did some damage!
Tomcik fails to land with a series of punches.
Tomcik throws a sloppy head kick and Reed moves out of range easily.
Tomcik has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Reed.
Tomcik misses with a right hand
and Reed counters with a slapping leg kick.
Tomcik takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Reed is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Tomcik.
Tomcik takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Tomcik. Reed shrugs it off though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tomcik throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Reed.

Reed gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Tomcik to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Tomcik trying to control but Reed is working from the bottom.
Tomcik tries to free his leg and advance position but Reed is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tomcik passes into half guard.
Reed wants to control but Tomcik is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Reed is positioning himself well to prevent Tomcik advancing to mount.

Tomcik seems to be working for a kimura but Reed defends the submission attempt.

Tomcik is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Reed defends it well.
Reed wants to control but Tomcik is keeping busy.

Kamil Tomcik has got the better of the ground game so far.
Reed is looking for a sweep. Tomcik is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Reed regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Tomcik.
Reed has Tomcik pulled in close to control his posture.
Tomcik pushing down on Reed's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Tomcik is keen to just control but Reed is a slippery customer.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kamil Tomcik showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Reed ducks right into an uppercut from Tomcik.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Reed.
Reed throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tomcik connects with a jab.
Tomcik's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Reed forces Tomcik back against the cage and clinches.
Tomcik has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Reed tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Reed lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Tomcik blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Reed swings wildly with an uppercut but Tomcik uses good head movement to avoid it.
Tomcik slowing the pace effectively.

Tomcik decides to pull guard.
Tomcik looking to hit a scissor sweep but Reed is one step ahead there.
Reed has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Reed is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Tomcik escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reed gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Reed decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Tomcik throws a low kick but Reed moves out of range easily.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Reed.

and Tomcik counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Reed's guard now.
Tomcik won't allow Reed to sweep him here.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tomcik advances to half guard.

Tomcik is working for a submission of some sort.
Reed moves into full guard.
Tomcik pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Reed is keeping the position for now.
Reed pulls Tomcik in close to prevent any damage.
Reed looking to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reed is pulling down on Tomcik's head to control his posture.
Tomcik trying to control but Reed is working from the bottom.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Reed cracks the inside of Tomcik's front leg.
A low kick from Tomcik is predictable there

and Reed moves into the clinch.

Crunch! Reed slams his shin into Tomcik's torso.

Tomcik avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
A slapping body kick lands there for Reed.
Tomcik takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Tomcik shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Reed as he jumps to the side.
Reed lands with an uppercut that bounces Tomcik off the cage and back into range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Reed changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Tomcik tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Reed scoring well with a low kick there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Oliver Reed showed his dominance in that final round.
