Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stevie Wait (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evil Ryu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wait comes into the arena with Times Up blaring out of the sound system. Evil Ryu has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stevie Wait!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Evil Ryu!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wait misses with a body shot.
Ryu tries to clinch up.
Wait throws a leg kick

and Ryu counters by clinching up.
Ryu tries a knee to the head but Wait blocks it.
Ryu is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Wait is keeping busy.
Ryu utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Ryu taking a breather.
Come on Ryu - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Ryu wants to stall.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Evil Ryu.
Ryu tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Wait counters with a stiff right hand.
Ryu wants to clinch
and Wait connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Evil Ryu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ryu tries to clinch up.
Wait throws a predictable looking body shot
and Ryu counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Wait is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Ryu closes the distance looking to clinch

and Wait counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ryu won't be happy with that.
Ryu is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Wait has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Wait misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Wait throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Wait postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Ryu defending against the ground and pound.
Ryu is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Wait is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ryu knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The ground and pound from Wait seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Wait misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Wait tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Ryu is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Wait is trying to ground and pound but Ryu uses the momentary lack of control by Wait to regain half guard.
Wait throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wait thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Ryu is trying to stand back up but Wait is controlling him
Ground and pound from Wait.
Wait throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Ryu to regain full guard.
Wait in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wait accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Wait throws an elbow that misses. Ryu uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wait's guard. Nice move by Ryu!
Wait on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wait tries to get out of the position.

Ryu gets to his feet - Wait follows without any prompting.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wait swats away the attempt to clinch by Ryu.
Ryu tries to clinch up

and Wait counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wait looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ryu with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wait thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ryu's head.
Wait thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Wait wants to take a breather but Ryu is having none of it.
Wait throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Wait working the head and body with strikes.
Wait missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Wait thows a huge punch but Ryu dodges it nicely.
Wait stops Ryu from getting back to his feet.
Wait not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Wait sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ryu defending well though.
Wait wants to pass to mount but Ryu is defending the position.
Ryu regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Wait.
Wait working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Wait throwing strikes but missing.
Ryu utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
Wait throws a big right hand that misses.
Wait postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Wait trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Wait throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Wait trying to control the position from guard on top but Ryu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've been hearing good reports from Wait's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Ryu utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ryu working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Wait.
Wait loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Wait postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Wait throws a strike but Ryu rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Wait wants to hit a switch here but Ryu passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Wait there!
Wait tries to hold on but Ryu postures up.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ryu is looking to stand but Ryu has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Wait is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Ryu is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Ryu darts in trying to clinch
and Wait counters with a good, hard body kick but Ryu shrugs it off.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Ryu tries to close the distance and clinch but Wait swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Wait looks to land a right hand but Ryu moved out of range.
Wait throws a solid leg kick but Ryu takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Wait.

Wait pushes Ryu up against the ropes in a clinch.
Wait looking for a takedown.
Ryu unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Ryu lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Ryu throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Wait blocks it with crossed arms.
Ryu is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Ryu goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ryu is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Ryu continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stevie Wait dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Ryu uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Wait.
Ryu tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Evil Ryu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ryu is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ryu tries to clinch but Wait moves out of range.
Ryu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Wait paws at him with a jab and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wait avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ryu defending well as Wait loads up on a big left hand.
Ryu fails in his attempt to clinch.
Wait waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ryu.

Ryu closes the distance and pushes Wait back into the ropes.

Ryu gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Wait.
Ryu tries to throw a body punch but Wait avoids it by throwing Ryu back against the ropes.
A knee to the head by Ryu.
Ryu tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Wait avoids it.
Ryu lands an uppercut.
Wait on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
A right handed body shot lands from Ryu.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Ryu is trying to maintain a safe position but Wait gets an underhook and turns Ryu into the ropes.

Ryu throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
A battle for position here, against the ropes.
Knees in the clinch landing for Ryu.
Ryu is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Evil Ryu.
Ryu tries to clinch but Wait moves away
and Wait counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters circling - Wait throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Ryu looks to clinch
and Wait counters with a nice uppercut.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ryu looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wait circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ryu fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wait dives in and grabs Ryu's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ryu pushes down on Wait's head and hops out.
Ryu tries to clinch up

and Wait decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ryu's guard.
Wait makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Wait throws an elbow that misses. Ryu uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wait's guard. Nice move by Ryu!
Ryu tries to stand but Wait is controlling from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wait is trying to control the position but Ryu postures up.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Stevie Wait wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Ryu wants to clinch but Wait slips to the side
and Wait counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Wait looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Ryu!
Ryu takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Sloppy strikes there by Wait.
Wait throwing strikes but Ryu manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Wait tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ryu tries to get to his feet but Wait is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Ryu in his guard.

Ryu postures up.
Wait is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Stevie Wait just wasn't active enough.
Ryu fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Ryu moves to clinch but Wait breaks away
and Wait connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ryu tries to clinch but Wait moves away

so Wait counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wait landing some decent shots from guard.

Wait has gone for a leg lock! Ryu slips out almost immediately though and dives into Wait's guard.
Wait looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ryu is one step ahead there.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.
Wait has a closed guard, preventing Ryu from standing up.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Wait working a defensive guard here.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We're going to have a standup here because Stevie Wait wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Wait circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ryu tries to clinch up

and Wait counters with a takedown into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wait fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Evil Ryu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Ryu sneaks out the side door and pushes Wait away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

And that's the end of the fight!
Stevie Wait showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Wait has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
