Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rick Ashton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fallon Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ashton comes to the cage accompanied by Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man. Fox has chosen Take a Walk on the Wild Side as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Ashton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fallon Fox!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ashton scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Ashton misses with the ground and pound.
Fox tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ashton wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Fox on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Ashton controls the position.
Ashton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fox keeps working.
Fox tries to improve position but can't.

Ashton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fox knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Ashton lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Fox down.

Ashton throws an elbow but Fox slips to the side and avoids it well.

Ashton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fox knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Ashton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fox keeps working.
Fox has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Fox is looking to regain half guard here but Ashton keeps moving and retains side control.

Fox parries the strikes from Ashton easily there. Ashton is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Fox to escape.
Fox is looking for a sweep.
Ashton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fox keeps working.
Fox is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Ashton is keen to just control but Fox is a slippery customer.

Ashton perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ashton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fox keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Fox takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A punch combination from Ashton misses.
Fox tries to clinch up.
A combination from Ashton does no damage.
Fox tries to close the distance and clinch but Ashton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ashton misses with a jab, cross combination.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fox tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ashton manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Fox wants to clinch but Ashton slips to the side
and Ashton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Fox moves in looking to clinch but Ashton pushes him off.
Fox tries to clinch there but Ashton circles away.
Fox is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Ashton closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fox to the mat! Fox manages to get full guard.
Ashton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fox manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ashton manages to get himself to full guard.
Ashton seems keen to control Fox's posture.
Ashton keeping moving, preventing Fox from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ashton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fox defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Ashton dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Fox tries to clinch up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fox looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Fox tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Fox on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Fox moves in looking to clinch but Ashton pushes him off.
Ashton lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Fox tries to sprawl but Ashton drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ashton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fox keeps working.

Ashton is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Ashton perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Fox is staying active underneath Ashton, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ashton thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Fox's head.
Fox is trying is best to control the position here.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ashton lands a nice short elbow.
Ashton tries to pass to full mount but Fox defends it.
Ashton is thwarting Fox's attempts to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ashton wants to free his trapped foot but Fox is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Ashton is working hard here to advance position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Ashton drops Fox with a nice combination! Ashton dives into Fox's guard, looking to finish!


Fox is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ashton stands up over Fox, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Fox is still in real trouble! Can Ashton finish him?
Ashton postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Fox covers up, he's hurt! Ashton keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Ashton and the ref steps in to end the fight! Ashton can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rick Ashton!
Rick Ashton very nearly forgot to thank CEC Nutrition Q160 amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
