Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luke Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lars Thunstrom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Will T. Bear - For a Few Dollars More. Thunstrom has chosen Prodigy - Spitfire as his entrance music. Luke Johnson has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luke Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 14 - 1, fighting out of New York, Lars Thunstrom!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Kavanagh and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thunstrom tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
A big right from Thunstrom misses.

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've been hearing good reports from Johnson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Thunstrom is keeping the position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Johnson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Thunstrom is wriggling around trying to escape.
Johnson lands a nice shot to the head.
Johnson tries to control but Thunstrom wriggling away.

Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thunstrom is squirming around, avoiding Johnson's attempts to control the action.
Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Johnson is really struggling to control Thunstrom but he's trying to hold on to the position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Johnson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thunstrom keeps working.

Thunstrom lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A slow jab from Thunstrom misses its intended target.
Good leg kick by Johnson there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Thunstrom misses with a straight left.
Thunstrom throws out a loose jab but Johnson uses good head movement to avoid it.

Thunstrom looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Johnson!
