Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lauri Torni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Burgess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Torni comes to the cage accompanied by Gallowbraid - Ashen Eidolon. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lauri Torni!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anthony Burgess!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burgess throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Burgess checks a low kick from Torni.
Burgess throws a nice outside leg kick.
Burgess listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Burgess tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Torni was well out of range. Poor timing from Burgess.
Burgess lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Burgess connects with the punch.
Burgess uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Torni.
Torni throws a lazy right hand but Burgess sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Burgess stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Torni.
Burgess misses with a straight left.
Burgess lands a jab.
Burgess scores with a jab to the body.

Burgess swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The crowd cheers as Burgess lands an impressive looking overhand right. Torni doesn't seem phased though.
Torni slips a jab from Burgess.
Burgess misses with a lunging right hand

and Torni counters with a nice double leg into side control. Burgess won't be happy with that.
Burgess is trying to improve his position.

Torni stands up and beckons Burgess to his feet.
Torni checks the leg kick.
Burgess throws out a loose jab but Torni uses good head movement to avoid it.
Burgess misses with the combination.
Burgess has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Torni throws a head kick that misses.
Torni takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Burgess throws a lazy uppercut

and Torni counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Burgess's guard now.
Burgess bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Torni's guard.
Burgess landing some decent shots from guard.
Torni is looking to stand up but Burgess isn't so interested in that idea.
Burgess keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Torni's head.
Burgess with a flurry of punches that miss.
Burgess throwing strikes from guard but Torni blocks nicely.

Burgess is looking to advance position but Torni has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Torni avoids the attempt from Burgess to control.
Burgess tries to improve his position but instead Torni has taken his back!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Torni's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
I really don't envy Burgess right now.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Burgess looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Burgess rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Torni postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Burgess to stand up.
Torni tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lauri Torni will probably get the nod.
That's time! Torni's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Burgess misses with a right hand

and Torni holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Burgess has had enough of the clinch but Torni keeps him there for the moment.
A short body shot lands from Torni as the two fighters clinch.
Torni scores with a nice hook to the head.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Torni.

Torni misses with the head strike.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Burgess as Torni tries to tie him up.
Burgess digs a right hand into Torni's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Torni's gas tank.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Burgess tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Torni tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Burgess blocks an uppercut.

Burgess avoids the elbow strike from Torni, against the cage.

Torni lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Burgess escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Burgess throws a jab but it's blocked by Torni.
Anthony Burgess seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Burgess looks to land a combination but Torni avoids it well.

and Torni counters with an inside leg kick.

Torni slips a jab and a cross from Burgess.
Burgess lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Torni circles away quickly and effectively.

The fight stays on the outside here - Torni looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Burgess fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Burgess lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Anthony Burgess is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Burgess throws a good cross that connects.
Torni throws a nice outside leg kick.
Torni walks into a stiff left hand from Burgess.
Torni throws an overhand right that lands on Burgess's shoulder, as Burgess tries to avoid the shot.

Burgess's jab looks to have found its range, popping Torni under the eye.
Burgess connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Torni's hands.

and Torni decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Burgess's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Burgess is on top in guard.
Lauri Torni overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Burgess in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Torni tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Torni wants to stand and escape but Burgess is having none of it.

Burgess must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Burgess tries to free his leg and advance position but Torni is retaining full guard.

Torni has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Burgess is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lauri Torni will probably get the nod.

Burgess tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Torni is able to avoid easily.

Anthony Burgess has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Torni lands with an uppercut that bounces Burgess off the cage and back into range.

Lauri Torni showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Torni, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
