PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kip Slizer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sherman Tank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slizer comes into the arena with The Reckless and The Brave blaring out of the sound system. Tank comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ain't no grave gonna hold my body down. kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Sherman Tank has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Kip Slizer's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kip Slizer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sherman Tank!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slizer fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tank manages to avoid it.
Slizer misses with a jab to the body
and Tank counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Tank shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Slizer as he jumps to the side.
Tank has his takedown stuffed
enabling Slizer to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Sherman Tank has been cut.
Slizer misses with a telegraphed body shot

so Tank counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tank controls from within his opponent's guard.
Slizer pulls Tank in to control the position.
Tank sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Slizer misses with a left hand

and Tank counters with a shoot takedown. Slizer fights it but they end up in guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Slizer is on top in guard.
Slizer trying to control the position from guard on top but Tank is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Slizer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Tank has control of Slizer's left arm, preventing Slizer from doing any damage.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sherman Tank hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Slizer misses with a double jab

and Tank decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Slizer's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tank pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Slizer is keeping the position for now.
Tank is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Tank checks a leg kick nicely.
Slizer throws a low kick but it's checked well by Tank.
Tank takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Slizer scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Tank slips a straight right by Slizer.
Slizer is looking to wear down Tank with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Tank tries to sprawl but Slizer drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Well, if Slizer is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Slizer in particular looking to stall.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Slizer tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tank knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

We're going to have a standup here because Kip Slizer wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Tank takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

and Tank counters with a nice double leg into side control. Slizer won't be happy with that.

and Tank counters with a two punch combo.
Slizer misses the shot to the body.
Tank avoids the body shot from Slizer.
Slizer throws a body kick that misses.
Slizer throws out a loose jab but Tank uses good head movement to avoid it.
Slizer fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tank manages to avoid it.
Slizer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Slizer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tank sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Slizer with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Slizer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Tank keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Tank counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Tank engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Slizer manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Tank wants to control but Slizer is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slizer controlling his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slizer wants to control the pace but Tank is squirming around nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tank is looking to improve his position but Slizer isn't that keen on the idea.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Tank tries to hold on but Slizer postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Slizer dives in and scores a takedown into Tank's guard.

Tank has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Slizer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Tank looking to hit a scissor sweep but Slizer is one step ahead there.
Slizer controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tank is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kip Slizer will probably get the nod.

Kip Slizer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A looping hook to the body misses from Slizer. Tank does a little dance to reset his feet.
Horrible takedown by Tank or perhaps it was just good defense by Slizer which made him look bad.
Slizer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tank moves away.
Slizer stuffs the takedown.
Tank uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Slizer.
Slizer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Tank dives in and grabs Slizer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Slizer pushes down on Tank's head and hops out.
Kip Slizer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sherman Tank.
Tank shoots in for a double leg but Slizer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Tank takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Slizer drives through with a takedown into Tank's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Slizer has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Tank is proving hard to escape from.

Kip Slizer showed his dominance in that final round.
