PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jack Clark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Ishikawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clark comes to the cage accompanied by Rent a Wreck. Ishikawa has chosen mindshift genki sudo as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Clark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Ishikawa!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clark looks to land a left hand but Ishikawa moved out of range nicely.
Ishikawa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ishikawa uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Clark.
Clark bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ishikawa's head.
Clark throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Ishikawa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Clark tries to avoid it but Ishikawa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Clark to the ground. Clark escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ishikawa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Clark was covering up waiting for the punch and Ishikawa finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Ishikawa postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Clark is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ishikawa, into his guard.

Clark passes Ishikawa's left leg - he's now in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Clark sizes up Ishikawa with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

We've been told by Clark's head coaches at Stark Slugger Society - NY that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Ishikawa shoots in looking for a takedown but Clark manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ishikawa's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Clark throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ishikawa on the side of the head.

Clark lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
