The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McDonald drives through and clinches with Markakis against the cage.
Markakis is struggling to control the position.
McDonald has Markakis pressed against the cage, preventing Markakis from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
McDonald drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Markakis tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and McDonald avoids it.
Markakis fails to pull guard.
Markakis with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Markakis dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
McDonald wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Markakis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Markakis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Markakis tries to strike from the bottom.
Markakis has his hands on McDonald's head, controlling the position.
McDonald wants to pass the guard but Markakis is keeping the position.
Markakis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Markakis is looking to stand back up but McDonald counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Markakis.
McDonald looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Markakis is not content to let McDonald control the position.

McDonald lands strikes from half guard.
Markakis is controlling McDonald's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Markakis is pressing down on McDonald's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Markakis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McDonald can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Markakis is pulling down on McDonald's head. It's preventing any offense from McDonald, at least for the moment.

Markakis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Markakis is on top in guard.
Markakis won't allow McDonald to get back to his feet.
McDonald can't keep his opponent in guard - Markakis advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Markakis moves into full mount! McDonald won't be happy about that!
Markakis controlling the pace for now.

Markakis is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, McDonald has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Oooooh!!! Markakis has knocked McDonald down with a huge combo! Markakis steps away and waves a wobbly McDonald back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Markakis plants his feet and throws a 3 punch combo. Miss, miss, boom! The third punch, a big right hook, connects right on the temple and drops McDonald to the mat, unconscious! This fight is all over! McDonald just couldn't keep out of the way of the whole flurry of punches!
