The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Portier lands a really nice looking cross but Junior seems unphased.
Portier has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Junior is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Portier chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Portier clinches up with Junior and pushes him back against the cage.
Portier misses with the head strike.
Portier swings wildly with an uppercut but Junior uses good head movement to avoid it.
Junior takes a shot to the head.
Portier swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Portier misses with a punch on the inside.

Portier breaks from the clinch.
Junior takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Junior sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Portier misses with a head kick.
Whack! Portier lands a heavy head kick that drops Junior. The ref tackles Portier to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Junior was done.
