Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adam Rubio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dexter Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Adam Rubio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Dexter Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan throws a front kick that sends Rubio stumbling back into the cage.
Rubio closes the distance looking to clinch

and Morgan counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Morgan trying to control the position from guard on top but Rubio is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rubio wants to stand and escape but Morgan is having none of it.
Rubio utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Morgan stopping the sweep attempt from Rubio.
Morgan makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rubio wants to get back to his feet but Morgan is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Morgan trying to control the position from guard on top but Rubio is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rubio is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Morgan connects with a couple of short punches.
Morgan throws a strike but Rubio rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Morgan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

We've been hearing that Rubio has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Morgan throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rubio escapes and throws Morgan's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Morgan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rubio wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rubio is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Morgan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Rubio works to advance to full mount. Morgan defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Rubio wants to control the pace but Morgan is squirming around nicely.
Morgan keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Morgan tries to hold on but Rubio postures up.
Morgan working to try and regain half guard.
Rubio tries to control but Morgan wriggling away.

It looks like Dexter Morgan has been cut.

Morgan stops Rubio from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Rubio is standing up, even though he is in mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rubio tries to clinch there but Morgan circles away.
Adam Rubio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Morgan dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Morgan counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rubio won't be happy with that.
Rubio is not content to let Morgan control the position.
Morgan working the ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Morgan throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Morgan tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rubio closes the distance and clinches.
Rubio trying to control the position but instead, Morgan has worked for underhooks and has pushed Rubio into the cage.
Morgan blocking some punches.
Rubio trying to land knees to the body.
Morgan takes an elbow to the forehead.

Rubio pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Morgan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rubio tries to avoid it but Morgan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rubio to the ground. Rubio escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rubio closes the distance looking to clinch
and Morgan counters with a good low kick that Rubio was not able to check.
Morgan scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Rubio misses with a hook
and Morgan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Morgan misses with a looping left.
Morgan gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Rubio tries to close the distance and clinch up but Morgan swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rubio lands a head kick. Morgan smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Rubio wants to clinch but Morgan slips to the side

so Morgan counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Morgan with a flurry of punches that miss.
Morgan is looking to work some ground and pound but Rubio has wrist control.
Morgan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Morgan has gone for a leg lock! Rubio slips out almost immediately though and dives into Morgan's guard.
Rubio tries to free his leg and advance position but Morgan is retaining full guard.
Rubio passes into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Morgan is looking to improve his position.

Rubio is looking for a kimura but Morgan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rubio to get the leverage.
Rubio passes to side control.
Morgan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rubio wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Rubio wants to control but Morgan is keeping him busy.

Rubio has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Morgan is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Rubio yanks on the arm and Morgan is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Rubio.
