Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mamed Khalidov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Twen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khalidov comes into the arena with PIERSI - Bałkanica blaring out of the sound system. Mamed Khalidov has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mark Twen!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khalidov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Twen shoots in for a double leg but Khalidov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Khalidov scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Mark Twen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Twen looks to land a combination but Khalidov avoids it well.
Horrible takedown by Twen or perhaps it was just good defense by Khalidov which made him look bad.

Twen gets caught napping as Khalidov dives in and scores a takedown. Twen manages to retain guard.
Twen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Khalidov is controlling him.

Khalidov wants to control from the top but Twen keeps moving.

Khalidov decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Twen, up you get!

Twen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Twen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Khalidov.

Twen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Khalidov swats him away and circles back towards the center.

It looks like Mamed Khalidov has been cut.

Khalidov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Twen's guard.

Khalidov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Twen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Khalidov has managed to get both his arms back between Twen's legs - danger averted.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Twen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Khalidov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Mamed Khalidov will probably get the nod.

Khalidov shoots in for a takedown but Twen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Twen closes the distance and clinches up with Khalidov, looking for a takedown. Twen pushes Khalidov against the cage but Khalidov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Khalidov pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Twen back to the cage. Khalidov follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Khalidov throws a nice looking combination but Twen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Twen shoots for a takedown but Khalidov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Twen shoots in looking for a takedown. Khalidov tries to sprawl out of it but Twen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Khalidov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Khalidov lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Khalidov closes the distance and clinches up with Twen, looking for a takedown. Khalidov pushes Twen against the cage but Twen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Twen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Khalidov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Twen somewhat.

Twen misses with a takedown attempt - Khalidov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Khalidov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Twen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Twen can do anything to dispel that myth.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mamed Khalidov.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Khalidov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
