Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nickey Spillane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Butch Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nickey Spillane has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spillane misses with a body punch

and Simmons counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Spillane!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Simmons looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Spillane is looking to improve his position.
Well, if Simmons is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Simmons stands up and beckons Spillane to join him on the feet.

Simmons gets caught napping as Spillane dives in and scores a takedown. Simmons manages to retain guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Simmons is staying active underneath Spillane, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Spillane takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Spillane tries to pass the half guard into mount. Simmons knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
